Applications of Biomass Gasifier

Thermal Application: (Wherever a temperature of 11000c required for heating)

a) Dryers: Drying applications for Rubber, chemical products, Farm products, Food & spices (areca nut, tobacco, tea, coffee, large cardamom) (Temperature required:60-130oc )

b) Furnaces : For melting metals & alloys such as Aluminium, Copper, Stainless steel, Brass, Lead etc. & Scrap melting/recycling ( Temperature required : 650 - 1100oc )

c) Kilns: Baking of Bricks, Tiles, Pottery, Lime, POP etc (Temperature required: 700 -1000oc)

d) Process heat for Textiles, Tyre retreading, Food processing units, large scale cooking etc.

e) Water boilers for hot water industrial applications (Chemicals, Diary, automobile etc.)

f) Food items: Large Scale cooking, Bakery Products, Confectionary making, Sweets/Namkeen making etc

Saving Analysis of Biomass Gasifier

1 Kg of LPG is replaced by approx. 3-4 kg of Firewood / Briquettes (Depending upon the moisture content in the fuel)

Assuming a consumption of 2 Commercial LPG cylinders daily, the LPG required per day is approx 38 kg

So the fuel required per day would be = 38*(4) = approx 152 kg.

Assuming fuel required would be 152 kg / day.

The fuel is available in the market at a rate of 7-8 Rs / kg

Assuming a rate of 8 Rs / kg of fuel      

So the cost of fuel required would be:

                Cost = 8 * (152) = Rs. 1216

At present, the Cost of LPG for 2 cylinders = Rs. 1650 * 2 = Rs. 3300

So the gross saving would be Rs. 3300 – Rs. 1216 = Rs. 2084 per day

Net saving would be obtained after deducting transportation, storage & blower consumption

Note:

  • Transportation cost of the fuel has been excluded. It varies depending upon the Fuel source location
  • The storage cost of fuel has not been included as it will vary
  • Blower is of 1 HP. So the rated power consumption would be 0.746 KW per hour. So the operational cost of blower would be Rs. 4-5 per hour (Considering Rs. 6 / unit) which is negligible in front of the savings
